Zizai Philosophy is not a closed philosophical work, but an ongoing and open invitation to unfold. It does not seek to establish a system of ultimate truths, nor does it seek to replace any existing wisdom. Rather, alongside the garden of ideas that humanity has already cultivated, it offers another possible perspective, another possible path, and another rhythm in which one can breathe.

Core Principle: Existence as Unfolding

“Zizai” is neither a psychological state nor a metaphysical entity. It is existence unfolding of itself, beginninglessly and endlessly. All existence—from fundamental particles to living consciousness, from individual subjectivity to the structures of civilization—arises through the movement, coordination, and manifestation of tensions between differences.

  1. Tension as the foundation: The world is not fundamentally made up of “things”; tension is primary, with all things arising through its dynamic unfolding.
  2. Structure as manifestation: When tension forms a locally stable interface capable of coordination, it becomes a “structure.” All things, ideas, and institutions are temporary states of coordination within tension.
  3. Rhythm as function: A healthy mode of existence maintains a dynamic rhythm of breathing between convergence and divergence, inward observation and outward exploration.

Core Concepts: Self-being · Other-being · Co-being · Zizai

  1. Self-being: Every living being capable of awareness and response is a temporary focal point within the field of Zizai tensions—finite, yet opening toward the infinite; local, yet reflecting the whole.
  2. Other-being: The existence of another Self-being can never be fully known in its depths. This unknowability is not a deficiency, but the foundation of respect and co-being.
  3. Co-being: A resonant network formed by multiple Self-beings through their differences. Genuine Co-being does not mean merging into one, but coordinating within tension and responding to one another through rhythm.
  4. Zizai: The source and return of all existence. It is neither outside language nor confined within language. It is the never-ending unfolding that allows manifestation to manifest.

The Version Mechanism: No Ultimate Truth, Only Local States of Coordination

Any system of thought, practice tradition, cultural tradition, or even an entire civilization is not an ultimate truth, but a “version” formed under particular conditions of tension. Versions have no inherent superiority or inferiority, but they do have their periods of flourishing, decline, and distortion.

  1. Right Dharma — right technique, right coordination: Remaining closely connected to real tensions and serving unfolding.
  2. Imitative Dharma — imitative technique, imitative coordination: Forms flourish while their substance begins to dissipate.
  3. Terminal Dharma — terminal technique, terminal coordination: Branches and leaves grow increasingly dense, gradually obscuring the roots; forms proliferate until the system turns inward, sustaining itself through its own forms while drifting ever further from its source.

Updating a version is not a rejection of the past. It is a process of realigning with reality amid crisis, allowing new possibilities to grow through the cracks.

The Structure of the System: From Cosmology to the Future of Civilization

Zizai Philosophy is not a single, standalone book, but an unfolding process across multiple volumes. It currently consists of the following major works:

  1. An Outline of Cosmology and the Theory of Life -- Ontology and generative theory — Establishes Zizai as an ontological structure, revealing how tension, structure, and rhythm arise from difference and, through their unfolding, give rise to time, space, energy, life, and consciousness.
  2. Human Responses to Zizai Philosophy -- A theory of practice — Brings philosophy into everyday awareness and practice. From emotions, trauma, and personal growth to relationships, family, the workplace, social structures, and spiritual practice, it offers concrete paths of practice and ways of cultivating awareness.
  3. The Path of Politics, Economics, and Technoscience -- A theory of structures — Extends Zizai Philosophy into the realms of politics, economics, and technoscience, exploring how these domains emerge, unfold, and transform through tension. It proposes such models as Resonance-Center Politics, Tension-Flow Economics, and Zizai Technoscience, examines the structural crises of the contemporary world, and explores the possibilities of coordinated regeneration.
  4. Looking Toward the Future of Human Civilization -- A theory of civilization — Approaches civilization as Self-being, exploring how diverse civilizations may breathe independently while encountering one another. It examines the predicament of Terminal Coordination in global civilization and proposes fundamental principles for a community of shared human destiny and Co-being across forms of wisdom-bearing existence.
  5. Outline and Orientation · Random Reflections -- Provides a map of the core concepts, an account of the Version Mechanism, and philosophical reflections rooted in everyday life, offering readers different points of entry into the rhythm of Zizai.

Practice Is Not Transformation, but Return

Zizai Philosophy emphasizes that you are not a broken object in need of repair, but a living being that is unfolding and occasionally becomes stuck. The essence of practice is not to “become a better self,” but to “return to the self that is already unfolding”—to see the tension structures within emotions through awareness, to learn in relationships how not to overwrite others without losing oneself, and to recover one’s own rhythm through action.

Awareness is not a technique, but an inherent capacity of Self-being. Emotions are not enemies, but signals of tension. Suffering is not punishment, but an encounter with boundaries. Growth is not a matter of becoming stronger, but of unfolding more truly as oneself.

Ultimate Vision: A Garden in Full Bloom, Resonating in Diversity

Zizai Philosophy does not seek to replace everything with any single center. It does not seek to have the West subsume the East, nor the East replace the West. It does not seek to have humanity subsume silicon-based life, nor the past define the future.

Its fundamental stance is simple: to offer one more possibility, to add another color to the garden of world civilizations, rather than become the only standard.

May every civilization find its own rhythm of breathing.

May every form of wisdom-bearing existence find Zizai through Co-being.

Beginningless before, endless after --

Zizai is forever renewed in the breath.
